.12ct Pink Sapphire. Sapphire is part of the Corundum family of crystals, tough and durable and beautiful. Ruby is also Corundum, but Ruby is always red or in a shade of red, due to the presence of chromium in the crystal structure, whereas Sapphire can come in all sorts of colours, and can have more than one colour in the body of the gemstone, in which case it is called “parti-sapphire”.
Pink is one of the loveliest Sapphire colours, and when well-cut, as the two are in the pair shown here, has the sweetest sparkle.
