Athena Ancient Athens, Silver pendant. The mould of the above Athena was taken directly from an Ancient Greek Silver tetradrachm coin, minted circa 330B.C. The Silver tetradrachm, Athena on one side, owl on the other (the owl was the totem of Ancient Athens), first created around 500B.C., stayed in circulation, the same size, same approx weight of 17.2 grams, for hundreds of years, the forms of Athena and the owl changing from time to time.
