AGrade Cabochon cut Garnets. Garnet is a very interesting crystal, one of the most complex, and some eight or nine different types are known, each having its own colour spectrum. The most abundant type of Garnet is the wine-red variety shown in the above necklace, Almandine Garnet, and is the Garnet used in jewellery since antiquity.
Nowadays, though supply of Almandine Garnet good enough for jewellery is not a problem, sourcing top AGrade colour quality is a problem. The wine-red of the above two Garnets is of a quality, of a gorgeous clean translucent depth and saturation of colour that is now difficult to find.
