Vintage Silver earrings, handmade Sweden, probably in the 1960s. They could just as easily have been created in Denmark in the same period, for stylistically the Silverwork of those two Scandanavian countries had many similarities from the 1930s on, not only in the Georg Jensen-inspired organic Art Nouveau forms, but also in the techniques and flourishes used on the work benches. The vine-like curl, for example, at the bottom of each drop, can be found often in vintage Swedish and Danish Silver work, in eardrops, pendants, brooches and bracelets.
Note: the above Vintage Silver drops are each crafted in two lengths of worked Silver, one creating the frame, which starts in the earhook hole at the top (itself a stylistic flourish), curves down and around in a teardrop, up and curling across itself before continuing downwards again to finish in the vine-like curl at the bottom, mentioned above as a characteristic; the other Silver section, in the form of a gracefully curved leaf and superimposed diagonally upon the teardrop frame, organically, lightly, fixes the creation.
The pair mirror each other.
