Small Size Silver handmade ring. The above Silver ring is hollow form, but quite solid-walled, for it still has heft, weighing 5.5grams. Handmade in Warsaw Poland in the early 1990s, this is an excellent example of the clean styling and modernism in jewellery out of Krakow and Warsaw in a period of gradually increasing affluence and an explosion of tourism, especially European tourism.
In the early years of the 20th.century the jewellery centres of Poland produced much based on then avant garde Art Nouveau forms, and in the pre-war era of the 1930s much finely wrought free-form Silver-work, nowadays highly appreciated. The industry went into decline throughout the entirety of Eastern Europe post WW11 but, in Poland and the other Baltic States in particular, came alive again in the late 1980s.
