Silver Swivel Ring with solid 9ct Gold Scarab, designed and created in Sydney.
The Scarab, symbol of birth and regeneration due to its relation with the scarab-faced god Khepri, who rolled the sun across the sky, was a popular talisman of Ancient Egypt, probably the most popular. Its talismanic use 2000 years before the Romans was widespread not just throughout the Pharaonic world but also in many surrounding regions.
On the rear of the Gold Scarab in the above Silver Swivel ring is another symbol of Ancient Egypt, the sacred Orb and its vessel.
The Silver ring on which the Gold Scarab swivels, with its elegantly curved flared ends, is another design with its origin firmly in Ancient Egypt. One of the items excavated from the tomb of Tutankhamon was a Gold ring of this design, the vehicle for a Scarab carved in Lapis Lazuli.
The Gold Scarab is completely solid; 4.5 grams of 9ct Gold has been used in the creation of this Silver Swivel ring, and is by far the largest cost component involved.
