Scarab Ancient Egypt, 18ct Gold Ring with Diamonds and an African Ruby. The above ring is unique, created in Sydney, a fusion of motifs, or tropes, from different eras of Ancient Egypt; the distinctively shaped wire-wrapped band from the New Kingdom of around 1500bc, the Ra Sun God symbol on the rear of the scarab from the tomb of Tutankhamun around 1300bc, though certainly from a much earlier period, and the scarab itself really ancient as a symbol in the region of the River Nile, dating back thousands of years before the first Dynasties.
The Scarab was the symbol of the sun, the great God Ra, especially the morning sun, and represented birth, regeneration.
