Ruby .27ct Burmese. Burma, now known as Myanmar, has been a major source for Ruby gemstone of good colour for centuries, and this source is mired in controversy because of the political situation in that country. Christopher William has been assured by the Sydney suppliers of the Ruby gemstones used in these earstuds that these Burmese Rubies have been ethically sourced, cut in Sri Lanka from rough imported into that country in past decades.
Burmese Ruby has cachet, known for its good red colour. The Rubies in this earstud pair are of excellent strong red. Unfortunately, there is a price to pay for this sort of quality, with the price per carat 50% more costly than Ruby from, for example, Madagaskar in Africa.
