Rhombus Shape Enamelled Silver Earrings. Rhombus is the geometry term for “diamond” shaped. The above earrings are new but closely follow an ancient tradition of Berber people of the Anti Atlas Mountains of south-east Morocco, who have for centuries created Silver Tribal jewellery and adornments enlivened with enamel work.
Design has hardly altered at all, but the enamel colours are more strong, more vivid than those of older examples. This may be a matter of changing tastes, but could also have to do with less stable colouring agents having been used in bygone days, causing a fading of colours with time and exposure to the elements.
