Plain Silver Tribal Disc earrings. From the Himachel Pradesh region of north-west India, right up in the hills, in the Himalayan foothills. For all sorts of reasons, the region has a reputation for being progressive, and is definitely relatively well-off; certainly the hand-worked Silver out of that area is always nicely crafted and of high Silver content.
The above Plain Silver Discs were from a set of a dozen or so such hand-hammered discs sewn onto a shawl, evidence of prestige and status. Silver in the sub-continent has always been about wealth and prestige, Silver and property historically being the main stores of accumulated wealth.
