Natural Jade, Burmese, with some natural inclusions.
There are two types of Jade commercially mined: Jadeite, from Burma, which comes in all sorts of colours, from rusty reds through lavender and shades of white, to greens, including the so-called “Imperial Jade”, bright vivid green, the most costly of all Jade gemstones; and Nephrite, which comes only in shades of green, usually in darker shades, mined in British Columbia and found in the rivers and streams of the mountainous spine of the South Island of New Zealand, where it is simply called “Greenstone”.
China has an historical association with Jade stretching back into antiquity, always highly prizing it, using it in artefacts and jewellery. When the sources for the gemstone in China became depleted in the 1700s, Burmese Jadeite became the Jade of choice.
Interestingly, the original Jade of China was Nephrite, and historically a white Nephrite, called “mutton fat”, was more prized than the green.

Note: by far the greatest cost component of the above Natural Jade and 9ct Gold ring, is the 3.6 grams of solid 9ct Gold used in the making, and the second biggest cost component is the Sydney skill and labour in the handmaking of the ring setting for this Natural Jade gemstone.
