The crystal family of Quartz is extensive, its best known family members being lilac Amethyst, yellow Citrine and translucent colourless Crystal Quartz. Lavender Quartz nowadays is not so well known, though it is of a lovely understated colour. As a gemstone it was quite commonly used in Europe in the first half of the 20th century, particularly in Scandanavian countries.
