Handmade 14ctGold, handcrafted in Krakow Poland. Interesting construction, for the gemstones are not set but rather held in their square cages, allowing for virtually complete visibility and exposure to light, so that the man-made Diamond look-alike, Cubic Zirconia, can exhibit its full sparkle.
Not including the “butterfly” post clips, each of the above Handmade 14ct Gold earstuds consists of three parts: the Greek Cross undersection, the earpost attached to it, and the upper four-pronged open-faced top of the “cage”.
Particularly interesting -and particularly time-consuming for the bench jeweller who created the above earstuds- is that the upper four-pronged part is not soldered to the Greek Cross undersection but rather riveted to small round plates at the end of each of the cross’s arms. This allowed for a very neat finish at the bottom four corners.
As the upper four-pronged section is in Rose Gold, the rivet method of attachment made the join of Rose to Yellow quite distinct, not blurred as it would have been had the metal join been soldered.
Note: these fine examples of Polish jewellery tradition are discounted due to one small blemish: on the Rose Gold square top face of one of the studs is a blemish, a small nick, hardly visible without searching. See the third image in the gallery above, which deliberately highlights it.
Note also: the “butterfly” post clips are stamped with the maker’s mark, but there is no Gold gauge stamp; however, the earstuds have been tested at 14ct Gold.
