Gemstone Bezel Set Necklace. Back in the 1980s in Jaipur, Rajasthan, the skilled workers who crafted the above type of Gemstone Bezel settings, where the gemstone is held by a simple rim of Silver worked  around its edge, exposing the rear of the gemstone as much as its face, were plentiful enough. Those days are gone; now such work is not only difficult to have done, it is more costly, for though this minimal bezel gemstone setting looks simple, it requires considerable expertise and unflagging concentration to get right, and secure, and these days there are, quite simply, very few artesans in Jaipur, that entrepot of gemstones, who will bother with such painstaking work.
All the Silver bezel work above was crafted in the 1980s. The above necklace of cabochon cut Ceylon Blue Moonstones and Green Tourmalines has been recently assembled in Sydney from several stored lengths of gemstone bezels that have not seen the light of day for over thirty years, and it will not be repeated.
