French Silver Antique earrings, with highlights of 18ct Gold. No stamps. (French stamps are difficult enough to discern even when they exist, and require an expert in the field to decipher.) The above French Silver Antique earrings were sourced from an English dealer in continental European antiques, based in Bath. Stylistically, these eardrops bear some resemblance to Russian Silver earrings of the same late 1800s period, but the figure-of-eight links connecting the spheres with the hooks, with their detail and 18ct Gold beading, are unmistakably French.
Exquisitely handcrafted, ultra fine work, quite rare.
Note: French jewellery ateliers of the mid to late 1800s produced a fair amount of nicely made Silver jewellery embellished with Gold, and really only ever used 18ct Gold in this work; the lower standards of Gold used in England (9ct) and the US (10ct and 14ct), were simply not used in France.
