Eight Coral bead drops, hung from the links of a sturdy Silver “cable” chain bracelet, each connection securely twist-wired with .7mm thick round Silver wire, each coral capped at bottom with 2mm round Silver granule.
The Eight Coral beads are gemstone quality, of a fine well-matched deepish orange colour, all old handcut beads from Sth India where Coral has always been appreciated and highly prized. These Eight Coral beads were probably cut around the mid-1900s, from Coral branches imported from the Mediterranean, the main source of this organic gemstone.
Considering that gemstone Coral is an organic gemstone, not a crystal, and can be scratched fairly easily, it is a remarkably durable gemstone, for it tends to self-polish with wear. Certainly it has been used since antiquity as a particularly lovely material for intricate hand-carving.
