7x5mm Iolite gemstone, handmade Silver ring. Gem-quality Iolite, as the above gemstone is, ranges in colour from a Sapphire blue to violet, depending on the light source. It is pleochroic, having two or three colours. The above gemstone is preponderantly blue, fittingly enough, for the gemstone also goes by the name “Water Sapphire”, and can be mistaken for Sapphire, though Sapphire is much more hard and tough than Iolite.
The above gemstone is of a rectangular cut, a baguette, quite elegant. The ring setting is simple and solid, handcrafted in Silver, 8mm width at the top narrowing to 4.2mm at the rear, and of a uniform 1.1mm thickness.
