7mm Pearls capped in earstuds of 14ct Gold, 7.2mm round to be exact. The above matched Pearls are “cultured”, meaning that they are real genuine Pearls, not paste, and are created by a trained Pearl technician inserting an irritant into the interior folds of the molusc, and leaving it to the molusc to protect itself from that irritation by covering it well and truly with its naturally produced “nacre”, the organic substance that constitutes Pearl.
This method of Pearl cultivation, experimented with in a few places in the early 20thCentury, was more or less perfected in Japan in the 1950s, and came to so dominate the world Pearl markets as to completely marginalize any markets for natural rather than cultivated Pearls.
