59 Corals, Turquoise, Silver Necklace. The 59 Corals are all old, gemstone quality, of full saturated deep orange colour. The centre bead is old Tibetan, the 58 smaller beads are Sth Indian. All 59 Corals have their origin in the Mediterranean; trade in Coral gemstone between the Mediterranean Sea and southern India has existed at least since the era of the Roman Empire; indeed, two thousand years ago the demand for Mediterranean gemstone Coral from the trading ports of South India was so large that the gemstone became a scarce commodity in Rome.

The Turquoise in the above “59 Corals, Turquoise, Silver Necklace” is new, sourced in the rough in 2024 at one of the big trade fairs in the south of the USA by gemstone dealers from Jaipur, Rajasthan, west India, a major gemstone trading centre, taken to Jaipur and handcut there in the native cut. The original mine source of the Turquoise is Arizona which, despite a number of closures of important mines over the last decade, is still a major producer of this historically appreciated gemstone.
