9ctGold Earhooks for a pair of old Iraqi beads of very finely handcrafted Silver, thickly gold-plated (called Vermeil when the Gold layer thickness is high).
The 9ctGold Earhooks are handmade in Sydney for these eardrops, as is the 9ct Gold wire-work through each bead, capped with a small 9ct Gold granule at the bottom and securely twist-wired at the top. The four little 2.5mm round 9ct Gold beads capping each end of the old Iraqi beads are London imports.
The old beads would date back into the mid-1900s or earlier, all most finely detailed and hand-worked, with the same work on both sides of the beads, consisting of meticulously placed lengths of finely twisted wire and a myriad of tiny granulations, all soldered into place.
