The price of the above “Finest Aquamarine” 9ct Rose Gold ring is now, as of end August 2025, revised up in an effort to at least in part reflect the current state of the world Gold price. In the two years since this ring was handmade in Sydney, the cost of Gold has jumped over 100%.
Note that the above 9ct Rose Gold ring is handmade, not cast by machine from a wax model. Casting by machine obviously can reduce the cost, and therefore the end price, of a Gold item of jewellery, simply because the labour cost involved in cleaning up the cast product is less than the labour cost of a skilled jeweller working at the bench to create the item by hand; the difference, however, is not so great as one might presume, for not only is there the cost of having the cast item cleaned – and often cast items can be extruded in a very rough state – there is the matter of the cost charged by the refinery to produce that cast item from the supplied model.
And besides, there is the still considerable cachet attached to “handmade”.
