The Arts and Crafts movement, an anti-industrial design movement running from approx 1880 to 1920, was basically an English movement aiming to re-introduce artisanal craft and ornamentation into the “Arts”, considered at the time impoverished and lacking in design rigour due to over-mechanization.
The movement produced an output of new design across a multitude of disciplines, from architecture through textiles to painting and jewellery
