Silver Fob Chain, English Antique Curb Link. The bar is stamped “Sterling Silver”; both the clasps are hallmarked in Birmingham in the year 1931. The marks on the clasp do not include Birmingham’s Anchor, but the year stamp is a quite clear boxed “G”, the Birmingham letter form for the year 1931. The other stamp next to the boxed “G” is the Lion Passant, the walking lion, which is the mark for English Silver, denoting it as being i925 Silver content (925 parts out of 1000).
Each of the dozens of curb links also carry the stamp of the Lion Passant. These walking lion stamps are very buffed, indicating a fair amount of wear over its 90 years.
The chain is robust, in good condition, the links a solid 1.5mm thickness.
