$1,000.00

Long “fancy” handmade Sterling Silver chain, faithfully copied from an original antique English Albert chain model. Any Victorian fob chain not in the basic curb link is classified “fancy”, but in reality this is about the most “fancy” of all the link designs of the late Victorian period. And this is a very solid example.
See below more “Albert” information.

71.50cms total necklace length, long enough to need no clasp. 80 grams in weight.

Long Fancy Handmade Silver Chain. The original Albert chain on which the above handcrafted chain is modelled was a product of Birmingham in the late 1880s. Silver Albert watch-fob chains were produced in such quantities in Birmingham in the Victorian era that the city enjoyed the sobriquet of “Silver City”.
While the handmade chain above is a faithful example of this particular model of a Victorian Silver Albert chain, it has been handcrafted in a more sturdy fashion. It is a very strong necklace chain.
Original Victorian Silver Albert chain, whether of this kind of “fancy” chain or any other, or even of the more plain “curb” link, is now increasingly difficult to source, even in England; difficult, at least, in so far as price is concerned, for the price now of good examples, complete with the English Silver stamps, is too high to allow for re-sale.
