High Silver content, around 90%, 29mm across, around 12grams in weight.

East India Company 1835 Silver Rupee coin pendant, the top bail (for chain) handcrafted in Sydney in a style used by the Seljuks of the high Turko-Persian medieval period.
This Silver Rupee coin underpinned the British enterprise in India, always minted in high Silver content (91.66%) and always to the same weight, the ancient South Asian measure of approx 11.66grams. It was used as a store of wealth, and in jewellery of prestige in Tribal areas.
