The Baltic Sea of northern Europe, where the Amber shown here originates, has been the sole source of this gemstone for Europe and its environs since Antiquity. There are other sources, such as the Bay of Bengal and Jamaica, but none as prolific a source as the Baltic Sea.
The honey-coloured Amber is the most common, but the Baltic gemstone can also come in a yellow, or butterscotch colour.
